W. BAAS MEMORIAL FUND |
|
Awarded
through the Senior Service Program to the participant who most
exemplifies the personal characteristics of Jim Baas, a deceased
member of the UAHS Class of 1963. The student chosen must have
a 3.3 GPA or higher as of the first semester of his/her senior
year and must have earned a varsity letter in athletics from
UAHS. Announcement of the award is made at the Senior Honors
Assembly. |

FRANCIS
RICHARD BARNES MEMORIAL FUND |
|
Established
by Dr. and Mrs. Frank Barnes in memory of their son, who was
a member of the UAHS Class of 1980. The scholarship is presented
to a senior who has an expressed interest in pursuing a career
in the "helping professions" such as social work,
psychology, counseling or related fields of study. Announcement
of the award is made at the Senior Honors Assembly. |

BARRINGTON
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FUND |
|
Established
by a group of Barrington parents in 1997 with a base donation
of $5,000. This fund is to be used at the discretion of the
principal and staff of Barrington Elementary School for extra
materials and programs that are beyond the funding resources
of the Board of Education. |

KATHRYN
BORGHI MEMORIAL FUND |
|
Established
by her family and friends in 1997 to honor the memory of Kathryn
Borghi, a student with physical and learning disabilities, who
was able to excel in a regular classroom setting through the
use of universally designed, accessible, digital technologies.
This fund supports the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library (KBDL)
in the Upper Arlington City School District (K-12) formally
recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives, and dedicated
on April 22, 2002, at Jones Middle School in Upper Arlington,
Ohio. The digital library provides information in universally
designed, accessible, digital formats to provide access to every
student. Individual collections may be set up within Kathryn's
library to honor or remember a loved one. For information, contact

Karen
Pettus Collection within the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library
The Karen
Pettus Collection is the first collection to be established
within the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library (KBDL) to honor
the dedication and exemplary leadership of Karen Pettus, Principal,
Jones Middle School. Karen was instrumental in the development,
implementation, and dedication of the Kathryn Borghi Digital
Library. Karen has been an excellent teacher and outstanding
principal in the Upper Arlington School District for over
30 years. Her record of achievements at Jones Middle School
are numerous and can be found along with other information
about her years of service on her collection's web pages within
the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library.

the visual arts for Burbank students. |

to honor a UAHS senior who has demonstrated emerging leadership
qualities. Selection of the honoree will be determined by the
Faculty Council and representatives of the Class of 1959. This
award is presented at the Senior Honors Assembly. |

in memory of their classmates, the purpose of this fund has

The
initial gift came form Bonnie's family and friends upon the
occasion of her retirement as librarian at Barrington Elementary
school. The interest is to be used for elementary librarians
and classroom teachers as directed by a committee of all elementary
librarians. |

ERLANGER SERVICE LEARNING FUND |

Initiated
by fellow staff members upon Ellen's retirement from the UA
Schools, the purpose of this fund is to support Service-Learning
Projects that are initiated by UA students. |

Established
by Jason's family and friends, this fund provides art scholarships
and supplies for UA students. This award is presented at the
Senior Honors Assembly. |

gift from former UAEF Trustee Alexander (Sandy) Thomson. The
interest is to be used for the UAHS Baseball Team. |

in memory of a former elementary vocal music teacher by her
family and friends. Interest is to be used by elementary and
middle school vocal music teachers for special productions and
special equipment. |

Established
in 2001 by parents and friends of Greensview Elementary School
to celebrate excellence in the visual and performing arts within

gift from Richard Guy given in honor of Betty Gustin, a retired
UA elementary art teacher. Interest is to be used for visual
and creative arts as directed by the UA Arts Department. |

DAVID
HAJEK MEMORIAL FUND |

Awarded
to UA students in grades 6-12 who would like to pursue extra-curricular
study in the performing arts. The scholarship is to be paid
as tuition for programs for camps in drama, dance, vocal or
instrumental music. Application is made through a UA School's
music or language arts department. In addition, an annual "Spirit"
award will be presented to a member of the UAHS Marching Band. |

HAMILTON MEMORIAL FUND |
|
Initial
gift came from friends and family upon her death in November,
1993. The award is a scholarship to an outstanding art student
who will be pursuing a career in art and who has been accepted
to an art school or as an art major at a university of college.
This scholarship is presented at the Senior Honors Assembly. |

TREVOR
HARTLEY MEMORIAL UAHS FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP FUND |
|
Initial
memorials came from friends and family. The award is given as
a scholarship to an outstanding UA Football Team Senior who
will continue to play football in college and who has received
no other athletic scholarship. This scholarship is presented
at the Senior Honors Assembly. |

WALTER
B. HEISCHMAN MEMORIAL FUND |
|
Created
by members of the community and UA Faculty in memory of former
Superintendent of Schools, Walter B. Heischman, this fund is
to be used at the discretion of the Foundation Board for District
needs at any level. |

HER
SCHOLARSHIP FUND |
|
Awarded
to a graduating senior who will be attending any institution
of higher education. Students must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher
receiving acceptance by an institution that awards either a
bachelor or associate degree and has made contributions to his
or her school or community through participation in extracurricular
activities. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate
financial need. Application must be completed by the second
week of May of their graduating year. This scholarship is presented
at the Senior Honors Assembly. |

HYSELL
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY FUND |
|
Established
by the UAHS Chapter of the National Honor Society. An award
recipient will be chosen by the Faculty Council with the award
given to the Society member who has given time and effort to
the Chapter. The applicant must submit an essay to the Council.
This scholarship is presented at the Senior Honors Assembly. |

KEITH
KRIEGER MUSIC ENDOWMENT FUND |
|
Established
by friends and family in memory of Keith Krieger, a member of
the Class of 1976. This fund awards an annual music scholarship
for a student who will continue in the performing arts in higher
education. Vocal music and/or piano will be given priority.
When the fund reaches a substantive base (i.e. $30,000), 75%
of income will further the scholarship fund, while the other
25% will support the UAHS and Middle Schools' music programs
for sheet music, funding for plays, camps, or musical instruments. |

LOHSE MEMORIAL FUND |
|
Established
in memory of John H. Lohse, a member of the Class of 1991, and
seeks to support high school students in John's special areas
of interest. A science student and the UAHS Orchestra receive
benefits from this fund. |

Established
by family and friends upon his retirement as UA Superintendent
of Schools, the interest is designated for staff development.
The fund is administered by UAEF Trustees. |

by his family to honor this former UA student and athlete, the
interest is to be used to support the Upper Arlington High School
Cum Laude Society, including the "Dr. Charles Wade Moulton

Established
by the Arlington Bank in memory of long time employee Ingrid
Olfenbuttel, this fund will award a scholarship to a UAHS student
or students wishing to pursue extracurricular study or post-high
school education in the fields of wildlife management, marine
biology, or in a field related to the environmental sciences. |

Established
in memory of this longtime English teacher and media specialist
by her colleagues, this fund will provide funds for literature
experiences for middle school students. |

by her family to honor her volunteer service to UAHS, this scholarship
is awarded to a student who has shown leadership in incorporating
the Pillars of Ethics into the school community. |

by the 1998-1999 UAHS PTO Board, this fund generates a $1,000
scholarship to be given each year to a UAHS graduating senior. |

Initiated
by Jane Stone in February, 2001, the interest is to be used
at the discretion of the UAEF Board in any area where they find
a need. |

FAMILY FUND |

Established
by a former UA teacher and her husband in April, 2001, this
fund is a donor-advised fund. The interest is to be used by
teachers for innovations in education, especially for, but not
exclusive to, gifted education, informal education, and science
education. |
